MUMBAI, August 11 — Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the "Bank in a Box" digital platform and a centralized Security Operations Centre (SOC) for Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The platform is designed to provide cost-effective digital banking software solutions, enabling smaller cooperative banks to offer mobile banking, UPI payments, and digital loan approvals without high capital expenditure. The SOC will provide centralized cybersecurity monitoring and alert systems to protect UCBs from cyber threats and data leaks.
The minister stated that the reforms will strengthen the cooperative banking sector and improve trust among depositors.
Cooperative societies and banking regulations are important topics in general studies papers. Candidates should note that UCBs are regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Banking Regulation Act, 1949 (amended in 2020 to bring UCBs under RBI control).

मंत्री ने कहा कि इन सुधारों से सहकारी बैंकिंग क्षेत्र मजबूत होगा और जमाकर्ताओं के बीच भरोसा बढ़ेगा।
