NAGOYA, September 29 — Indian shooter Neeru Dhanda scripted sports history on Tuesday by capturing the gold medal in the women's trap individual final at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), marking India's first-ever individual continental gold in the event.
Neeru demonstrated exceptional focus in the final round, hitting 43 out of 50 clay targets to edge out contenders from China and Kazakhstan for the top podium finish. Her victory came alongside another gold medal triumph by the Indian women's 4x400m relay team (comprising Kiran, Prachi Choudhary, M. R. Poovamma, and Vithya Ramraj), propelling India's gold tally to 6 and overall medal haul to 53 (6 Gold, 21 Silver, 26 Bronze).
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports congratulated the athletes on their historic achievements on the international stage.
Milestones in precision sports and Asian Games athletics records are recurring topics in competitive exam sports GK. Candidates should note that trap shooting is an Olympic shotgun discipline governed globally by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).
