NAGOYA, September 26 — The Indian men's and women's kabaddi teams authored a golden chapter at the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) by sweeping both championship finals against arch-rivals Iran on Saturday.
In a fiercely contested men's final, India edged out defending silver-medallists Iran with a 33–29 scoreline, while the Indian women's squad held their nerve in the final moments to prevail 26–24. The dual victories reaffirm India's continental supremacy in the sport and propelled the national gold medal tally to four.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) hailed the athletes' tactical composure under high-pressure raid and tackle situations.
Traditional sports and continental medal milestones are standard general awareness topics in competitive examinations. Candidates should note that men's kabaddi was officially introduced at the 1990 Beijing Asian Games, while women's kabaddi made its debut at the 2010 Guangzhou edition.
