NEW DELHI, October 16 — The National Testing Agency (NTA), in operational coordination with the University Grants Commission (UGC), on Friday notified the statutory roadmap and syllabus architecture for the Common University Entrance Test for Postgraduate Admissions (CUET-PG 2027) on the Samarth portal pgcuet.samarth.ac.in.
According to the testing blueprint, online registrations will formally open in late December 2026, paving the way for multi-session Computer Based Tests (CBTs) to be conducted during the middle of March 2027 across more than 300 domestic exam cities and 24 overseas nodal centers. The exam will adopt a streamlined 105-minute format featuring 75 domain-specific multiple-choice questions per paper.
NTA reaffirmed that general knowledge sections will remain excluded from core discipline question papers, confining evaluations strictly to specialized subject competence aligned with undergraduate curriculum frameworks, awarding 4 marks per correct response with a 1-mark negative penalty for inaccurate attempts.
The policy rationale for standardized university entrance assessments under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the institutional mandate of the Central Universities Act 2009, Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) credit transfers, and national examination security standards represent crucial themes across UGC NET, CTET, and civil services examinations.
