Let present ages be S and T. 4 years ago: (S-4)/(T-4)=6/4=3/2 => 2S-3T=-4 ...(i). 7 years hence: (S+7)/(T+7)=4/3 => 3S-4T=7 ...(ii). From (i): S=(3T-4)/2. Substitute in (ii): 3(3T-4)/2-4T=7 => (9T-12)/2-4T=7 => 9T-12-8T=14 => T=26. S=(3*26-4)/2=(78-4)/2=37. Sum = 37+26 = 63 years.
