SSC does not publish a cut-off in advance. It publishes cut-offs when results are declared. This page reproduces the official figures from the last cycle we can read (CHSLE 2025) and the 2026 vacancy figure, then explains how to use them. Every number below is from an SSC notice linked in the sources. Nothing is estimated. Percentages and ranges are our arithmetic and are marked.

Tier-I cut-off, CHSLE 2025 (shortlisting for Tier-II)

Tier-I of CHSLE 2025 was held from 12 to 30 November 2025. The result was declared on 27 February 2026. Marks were normalised because the exam ran in several shifts. Out of 200 marks. SSC fixed separate category-wise cut-offs for three lists, which matter for the post you are aiming at.

List 1: LDC / JSA / Clerk-cum-Typist

Category Cut-off marks Candidates available
UR 144.25858 5,070
SC 125.40250 7,098
ST 115.25399 3,210
OBC 143.83055 11,051
EWS 141.42492 5,550
ESM 68.26439 3,675
PwD: OH 112.15049 486
PwD: HH 75.38893 482
PwD: VH 82.72930 472
PwD: Others 55.33338 426
Total shortlisted 37,520

The write-up adds that, beyond the UR number shown, further reserved-category candidates who qualified at the UR cut-off (1,168 SC, 231 ST, 9,007 OBC, 4,466 EWS and smaller numbers of others) are counted under their own categories.

List 2: DEO / DEO Grade A in the three departments that require Science with Mathematics (Consumer Affairs, Staff Selection Commission, Culture)

Category Cut-off marks Candidates available
UR 169.54438 82
SC 157.72055 156
ST 152.78518 51
OBC 169.49507 157
EWS 169.54438 68
ESM 128.52723 50
PwD: HH 118.61338 50
Total shortlisted 614

List 3: all other DEO / DEO Grade A

Category Cut-off marks Candidates available
UR 165.26551 289
SC 158.63390 169
ST 150.43132 104
OBC 165.26551 483
EWS 163.76792 270
ESM 112.53459 350
PwD: HH 120.21716 51
PwD: Others 108.00288 51
Total shortlisted 1,767

Across the three lists that is 39,901 candidates (arithmetic). The write-up also says 10 candidates with withheld results were allowed to sit Tier-II provisionally.

Minimum qualifying marks (a floor under the cut-off, per the notice): UR 30%, OBC and EWS 25%, all others 20%. On 200 marks that is 60, 50 and 40. The UR cut-offs for LDC/JSA were about 72% of 200 (arithmetic), and for the DEO lists 83% to 85%.

Last-selected marks, CHSLE 2025 (first round of allocation)

After Tier-I, Tier-II was held on 10 April and 22 April 2026. SSC's First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) of 17 August 2026 considered 13,395 candidates who submitted preferences and provisionally recommended 3,515 candidates against 3,522 vacancies (UR 1,674 of 1,675; EWS 337 of 337; SC 487 of 490; ST 251 of 252; OBC 766 of 768). Merit is the aggregate of Tier-II Sections I and II, which is out of 360; Section-I alone is out of 180.

The notice lists the last selected candidate for every post and category. A selection of UR rows for large posts follows. These are first-round figures: SSC then ran a sliding process for unfilled vacancies, and we did not find the final result.

Post code and department UR vacancies Last selected: Tier-II total (of 360) Section-I (of 180) Tier-I marks (of 200)
L16 LDC/JSA, Border Roads Organisation (male candidates only) 265 294 161 146.40
L31 LDC/JSA, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs 185 299 166 154.73
L20 LDC/JSA, Controller General of Accounts 134 302 164 147.88
L35 LDC/JSA, Controller General of Defence Accounts 131 300 172 145.47
L02 LDC/JSA, Intelligence Bureau 127 300 160 153.13
L04 LDC/JSA, Canteen Stores Department 111 296 172 150.98
L42 LDC/JSA, Armed Forces HQ 79 306 172 161.12
L12 LDC/JSA, CBI 58 300 168 164.89
L53 Junior Health Administrative Assistant, CGHS 40 302 168 149.46
L10 LDC/JSA, Department of Posts 12 308 172 150.28
D55 DEO Grade A, Controller General of Accounts 13 317 164 166.92

Things to read from this table:

  • The Tier-II totals are tightly bunched. Across the 53 LDC/JSA-type post codes with a UR row, the last-selected UR totals run from 294 to 322; for the 30 posts with 10 or more UR vacancies, 294 to 317 (arithmetic from the FRTA table). That is roughly 82% to 88% of 360 (arithmetic).
  • Section-I marks of last-selected UR candidates ran from 157 to 176 out of 180 for those same 30 posts (arithmetic). Section-I is the first tie-break, so it matters beyond its own share.
  • Category gaps are large on one post. For the Intelligence Bureau (L02) the last-selected totals were UR 300, OBC 297, EWS 296, SC 288, ST 276, OH 278, HH 233 and ESM 192.
  • Not every vacancy was filled in round one. For DEO Grade A in the Staff Selection Commission (D54), 5 of 6 UR vacancies were allocated, and the last selected total was only 211.

The full post-wise, category-wise table is in the official FRTA notice. SSC's corrigendum of 19 August 2026 clarifies that L20 is LDC/JSA and L53 is Junior Health Administrative Assistant.

Vacancies

  • CHSLE 2026 (notice of 7 September 2026): approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. State-wise and zone-wise vacancies are not collected by SSC.
  • CHSLE 2025: the notice of 23 June 2025 said about 3,131 tentative; SSC's final list of 18 June 2026 shows 3,522: UR 1,675, SC 490, ST 252, OBC 768, EWS 337 (ESM 301, OH 35, HH 43, VH 39, PwD-others 37 counted within). The largest lines were LDC/JSA in the Border Roads Organisation (392), the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (361), the Controller General of Defence Accounts (321), the Intelligence Bureau (316) and the Canteen Stores Department (295).

The 2026 tentative figure is lower than the 2025 final one. A smaller vacancy count can push cut-offs up, other things equal. Treat that as a reasoning aid, not a forecast: the tentative figure is likely to be revised, and paper difficulty and the number of candidates matter as well.

How to use these numbers

  1. Convert the cut-off to a mock target. The 2025 UR shortlisting cut-off for LDC/JSA was 144.26 out of 200, about 72%. Aim for a buffer above it in your mocks, not at it.
  2. Do not read Tier-I as the goal. It only shortlists. In 2025, 39,901 candidates were shortlisted across the three lists, and 13,395 submitted preferences after Tier-II. Selection is decided by Tier-II marks, so start Tier-II subjects (statistics, probability, Computer Knowledge) early.
  3. Find your list. If you want DEO, the Tier-I cut-offs were far higher than for LDC/JSA, and the three Science-with-Maths departments were higher still.
  4. Work out your category's number, not the UR number. The tables show the spread; a UR and an SC candidate are shortlisted at marks about 19 apart in List 1 (arithmetic).
  5. Check your percentile, not just your score. On Pareeksha everyone in a cohort sits the same fixed paper, so your percentile is a like-for-like comparison. See how fixed-paper percentile works.
  6. Plan for the skill test. It is qualifying, but a failed typing or skill test removes you from selection however high your marks. See exam pattern.

What this page does not have

  • Earlier years (2024 and before) are not included. We only publish figures we have read from an SSC notice.
  • A CHSL 2025 final-result cut-off. The latest notice we found is the first round of allocation; the sliding round's results are not on this page.
  • Category-wise last-selected marks for every post, and the Tier-II marks of all candidates. These are in the official FRTA notice; we have shown a selection.
  • Any 2026 cut-off. Tier-I of CHSL 2026 has not been held yet; SSC's notice of 1 October 2026 proposes 30 November to 31 December 2026.

Frequently asked questions

What was the SSC CHSL 2025 Tier-I cut-off for the General category?

SSC's write-up of 27 February 2026 gives 144.25858 out of 200 (normalised) for UR in the LDC/JSA list, 143.83055 for OBC, 141.42492 for EWS, 125.40250 for SC and 115.25399 for ST. The DEO lists were higher: 165.26551 for UR in the general DEO list and 169.54438 in the Science-stream DEO list.

Is the Tier-I cut-off the final cut-off?

No. Tier-I cut-offs only decide who sits Tier-II. Final selection is based on the Tier-II aggregate of Sections I and II (out of 360), and the last-selected marks differ for each post and category.

Will the 2026 cut-off be the same as 2025?

No one can say. Cut-offs depend on paper difficulty, normalisation, the number of candidates and the vacancies. The 2025 figures are a reference point, not a forecast.

How many vacancies are there in SSC CHSL 2026?

SSC's notice of 7 September 2026 says approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. The final post-wise vacancies come later. For comparison, the 2025 notice said about 3,131 tentative vacancies and SSC's final vacancy list of 18 June 2026 shows 3,522.

Is the CHSL 2025 final result out?

As of 7 October 2026 the latest SSC notice we found is the First Round of Tentative Allocation of 17 August 2026, followed by a sliding process on 1 to 3 September 2026. We did not find a final-result notice, so the last-selected marks on this page are from the first round.
