NEW DELHI, October 8 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Thursday notified the official examination schedule for Tier-II of the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026 (CHSL 2026), slating the decisive computer-based and skill assessments for November 18, 2026, on `ssc.gov.in`.
The competitive assessment facilitates appointments across 3,712 non-gazetted Group 'C' vacancies, encompassing Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (DEO) postings within central ministries, attached offices, and statutory administrative tribunals. Approximately 41,000 candidates who surpassed normalized qualifying percentiles in the Tier-I computer-based screening have been shortlisted to contest the Tier-II examination.
Under the unified two-session testing architecture, Session-I comprises Section-I (Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning – 180 marks), Section-II (English Language and General Awareness – 180 marks), and Section-III Module-I (Computer Knowledge – 15 qualifying questions), administered with a 1-mark negative marking deduction for erroneous entries. Session-II immediately administers the mandatory computer transcription test: evaluating a minimum speed of 35 words per minute (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi) for LDC/JSA, and 8,000 key-depressions per hour for DEO designations.
Administrative clerical cadre governance, DoPT workforce staffing guidelines, and standardized typing psychometrics are vital practical components for aspirants preparing for central recruitment examinations. Candidates should remember that while the final merit ranking is compiled strictly from marks scored across Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, qualifying both the Computer Knowledge Module and the Skill/Typing Test is mandatory for final appointment certification.
