This page sets out the syllabus from the Revenue Department notification of 2020 for the post of Village Revenue Officer (Grade-II). It is the last full recruitment notification for this post that we could read officially. As of 7 October 2026 neither the APPSC notifications list nor the CCLA notifications page showed a VRO or VRA notification, so treat the heads below as the last official scheme and read any new notification first. The grouping is ours; the notification is the authority.
Syllabus at a glance
| Part | Subject | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A | General Studies and Mental Ability | 50 | 50 |
| Part B | Drawing and Survey | 100 | 100 |
| Total | 150 | 150 |
Two thirds of the marks sat in Part B. That single fact separates this syllabus from the general-studies-only lists that many aspirants study from.
Part A: the ten heads
General mental ability and reasoning; quantitative aptitude including data interpretation; general English; current affairs of regional, national and international importance; general science and its everyday applications, with contemporary developments in science, technology and information technology; history and culture of India with a focus on Andhra Pradesh; Indian polity and governance, including constitutional issues, the 73rd and 74th Amendments, public policy, reforms and Centre-State relations with reference to Andhra Pradesh; society, social justice and rights issues; physical geography of the Indian subcontinent and Andhra Pradesh; and key welfare and development schemes of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

- Construction of scales: plain, comparative, diagonal, vernier and scale of chords.
- Plan and elevation of points, lines, surfaces and solids.
- Conventional signs and symbols for engineering and building drawings.
- Drawing and detailing of building elements: brick bonds, stone masonry and joints, foundations, damp-proof course and plinth protection, roof types, flooring, arches and lintels, carpentry joints, doors, windows and ventilators, pitched roofs, steel roof trusses, stairs, a single-storeyed residential house in plan, elevation and section, cross-sections of roads, railway track and embankment, irrigation structures, pipe joints, drainage, manholes, sanitary fittings, rivets and standard steel sections.
- Surveying of building sites with chain, field-book entries, plotting and calculation of areas.
- Use of the prismatic compass, handling the levelling instrument, differential levelling, surveying building sites with chain and level, calculation of earthwork, plotting of longitudinal and cross sections, and drawing contours.
Why the syllabus looks like this
The job chart in G.O.Ms.No.415 (Revenue, 26 September 2019) asks the VRO to inspect fields, check survey stones, protect government land from encroachment and report calamities. Part B tests the skills those duties need: reading, drawing and measuring land. In 2020 the qualification was SSC with an NCVT Draughtsman (Civil) certificate with Surveying, so the drawing heads read like a trade syllabus.
What this page does not have
A VRA syllabus: we could not open an official order that sets one out for the current year. Any 2026 syllabus: no notification exists on an official page as of the date above, and figures reported elsewhere are unverified. If a new notification changes the scheme or qualification, it wins. For the job chart, the Swarna Gramam renaming and the 2020 rules in full, read our AP VRO and VRA guide; for the marks and timing see the exam pattern page.
