Most Andhra Pradesh health-job guides stop at Staff Nurse, Pharmacist and Lab Technician. Yet a district hospital also employs radiographers who run the X-ray room, theatre staff who prepare the operating table, physiotherapists, dental hygienists, auxiliary nurse midwives who staff village and ward clinics, and community health officers who lead the primary-care team. Each of these cadres has its own qualification, its own register and, very often, its own notification issued by a different office. This guide explains how the system works for these other posts, what the notifications we could open actually say, and what we could not verify.

The first thing to know is that there is rarely a written examination. In every 2026 and earlier notification we read in full, selection was by a 100-mark merit calculation built from your qualifying-examination marks, the years since you qualified and any earlier service. That changes how you prepare: paperwork, registration and timing matter more than a syllabus. Read this page together with our guides to Staff Nurse, Pharmacist and Lab Technician, which we do not repeat here, and with the wider Andhra Pradesh government exams 2026 overview.

The position as on October 2026

Be clear about one thing before you read further. As on October 2026 we could not confirm any currently open notification for ANM, MPHA(F), Radiographer, Operation Theatre Technician, Physiotherapist, Dental Hygienist or Community Health Officer posts from an official page. What we could confirm is a steady stream of district-level notifications that closed in June and July 2026, and recent selection lists that show these cadres being filled.

Item What an official page showed (as on October 2026)
Chittoor district Notification No. 02/2026 dated 24.06.2026 for paramedical and supporting staff on contract or outsourcing basis in district hospitals; applications 27.06.2026 to 04.07.2026
Tirupati district Notification No. 01/2026 dated 27.06.2026 for paramedical and supporting staff on outsourcing basis; applications 29.06.2026 to 06.07.2026
Palnadu district Paramedical notification 01/2026 of the district office; applications 01.07.2026 to 07.07.2026, offline mode
Ananthapuramu district Selection lists dated 24 and 25 June 2026 for Radiographer, Physiotherapist, Lab Technician, Audiometrician, Biomedical Engineer, Theatre Assistant and Lab Attendant
Health Department, State level Public alert dated 3 August 2026 on fake recruitment notices and appointment orders

All of these windows had closed by the date of writing. The Chittoor page published a cover letter and the notification files, but the main notification was a scanned image, so we could not read its post-wise table. The Palnadu page listed three files and the application period but we could not read the vacancy table. We therefore take the detailed rules for this guide from the Tirupati notification, which we could read in full, and from an older Guntur notification that listed almost every cadre named in this article. Both are explained below. Where a rule is taken from one notification, we say so, because rules differ between districts and years.

The state-level Medical Services Recruitment Board, usually called APMSRB, is a separate matter. Our Staff Nurse and Pharmacist guides discuss a 2026 notification from the Board for Staff Nurse, Pharmacist and Multi Rehabilitation Worker posts under the National Health Mission. We could not open that notification on the Board's own pages, because the pages we reached were incomplete or dynamic, so we do not repeat figures for it here. If you are a rehabilitation or therapy-minded candidate, note the post name "Multi Rehabilitation Worker" in that notification and read the official text for its qualification.

Who recruits for these posts

Anyone searching for a paramedical vacancy in Andhra Pradesh meets four different recruiters. Knowing which one issued a notice tells you where to apply, how selection will work and which pay rules apply.

The Medical Services Recruitment Board (APMSRB). The public alert of the Commissioner of Health and Family Welfare and Mission Director, National Health Mission, dated 3 August 2026, says that recruitment for the Health Department is conducted only through this Board and that candidates should trust only its website. The same alert warns people not to pay money to anyone, and not to believe WhatsApp messages, emails or social media posts about recruitment. Treat this as the safety rule for the whole sector.

The Directorate of Secondary Health (earlier the Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad) through the District Coordinator of Hospital Services. The Tirupati notification is issued in the name of the Director of Secondary Health, "formerly APVVP", and is approved at the district level. It names the Collector and District Magistrate as chairman of the District Selection Committee, with the District Coordinator of Hospital Services as member and convenor. Candidates apply to one district only, because the vacancies at community health centres and area hospitals inside that district are what is being filled. This is the most common route for Radiographer, Physiotherapist and similar posts in district and area hospitals.

Medical colleges and teaching hospitals. A Krishna district page of 2025 showed a combined District Selection Committee process at the Government Medical College, Machilipatnam, covering paramedical roles that included Physiotherapist, Radiotherapy Technician and OT Technician, with provisional lists and objection dates. The Guntur Government General Hospital notification of December 2021 is another example. These notices are issued by the hospital superintendent or principal, not by the Board.

National Health Mission programme recruitment and village or ward clinics. Posts under the National Health Mission, including programme posts and the mid-level provider at wellness centres, are filled on contract or outsourcing terms under the Mission Director. ANM positions at village and ward level have also been filled through district offices. The Krishna district page in 2025 carried a revised seniority list of ANM Grade-III for merit-cum-roster promotion to the MPHA(F) post, which shows that MPHA(F) is also filled by promotion, not only by direct recruitment.

The practical lesson is that the same cadre can be advertised by four offices in one year. Do not wait for a state-level advertisement alone. Follow the district websites of the places where you are willing to work, the Board's portal and the Health Department's page.

The six cadres, one by one

The rules below come from named notifications and are not universal. The Guntur Government General Hospital Notification No. 1/2021, dated 1 December 2021, lists qualification and remuneration for almost every cadre in this article. It is five years old, and newer notices may change the qualification, so use it as a map of what these cadres usually need, then check the current notice.

ANM and MPHA(F)

The Multi Purpose Health Assistant (Female), known as MPHA(F), is the senior form of the auxiliary nurse midwife cadre. The Guntur notice required, for MPHA(F), a pass in SSC or equivalent, or intermediate in any group, and either an 18 or 24-month MPHA(F) course conducted in the State and recognised by the Andhra Pradesh Nursing and Midwives Council, or a two-year intermediate vocational Multi Purpose Health Worker (Female) course followed by one year of clinical training in a designated government hospital. The candidate also had to be registered with the Andhra Pradesh Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and Health Visitors Council, and candidates who came through the vocational course also needed registration with the Andhra Pradesh Para Medical Board. A note in that notice said that B.Sc Nursing, General Nursing and Midwifery and any other qualification outside those notified are not eligible. That note surprises many nursing graduates, so read it twice.

A related cadre in the same notice, Lady Health Visitor, needed a 12th-standard pass, a two-year ANM diploma with two years of experience in auxiliary nursing in a hospital of at least fifty beds, and registration as ANM with the Nursing Council. The remuneration printed against Lady Health Visitor was Rs 17,500 per month on outsourcing, and the MPHA(F) pay was "to be fixed by the Government".

For the ANM Grade-III post itself, we did not open a current notification. A search result described a Government Order titled "Creation of MPHA(F)/ANM Grade-III posts" at village and ward secretariats on the Grama and Ward Sachivalayam portal, but we could not open the document, so we do not quote its contents. Two district recruitment pages (Kadapa and Prakasam) were reported in secondary listings as carrying ANM Grade-III vacancies in March and April 2026, with closing dates on 20 March and 8 April 2026. We did not open the original notices, so treat those as leads, not facts. Our Grama and Ward Secretariat guide explains how secretariat posts are generally handled.

Radiographer

The Guntur notice asked for intermediate with a one-year Certified Radiography Assistant course recognised by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The posts were outsourced at Rs 17,500 per month, with seven vacancies at the main hospital. A companion post, Dark Room Assistant, asked for a recognised training certificate, with preference for those who had passed the Certified Radiography Assistant examination.

Radiography is also one of the cadres that the law names explicitly. The Andhra Pradesh Para Medical Board Act, 2006 defines a "Radiographic Technician" as a person qualified for taking X-ray films from a recognised institution, and it bars anyone who is not registered from practising in that role. We explain the registration rules in a separate section below. Radiographer was also among the twelve cadres listed in a Vizianagaram District Coordinator of Hospital Services notification of 2025, and an Ananthapuramu selection list of June 2026 named Radiographer. These pages show that the post is filled every year, but they do not give a single qualification for all districts.

Operation Theatre Technician

This is the cadre with the least uniform naming. In the notices we could read, theatre posts appeared as "Operation Theatre Assistant" (Guntur 2021, SSC pass with a first-aid certificate, Rs 14,250 per month outsourced) and "Theatre Assistant" (Tirupati 2026, SSC pass, Rs 15,000 per month outsourced, one vacancy). A different title, "OT Technician", appeared in the Government Medical College Machilipatnam combined process listed on the Krishna district page, and an Ananthapuramu notice reported in search results also included OT Technician. We did not open a qualification table for the technician post. Do not assume that an SSC-level assistant post and a technician post need the same qualification. Read the qualification column of the notice and confirm whether a diploma, a registration or a first-aid certificate is demanded.

Physiotherapist

The Guntur notice asked for the requisite degree in physiotherapy from a recognised university, with valid registration in the Andhra Pradesh Para Medical Board on the date of the notification. Remuneration was Rs 17,500 per month on outsourcing, with two vacancies. A West Godavari District Coordinator of Hospital Services page of March 2022 showed a final merit list in which Physiotherapist appeared alongside Radiographer, Lab Technician, Dental Technician and several support posts, and an Ananthapuramu selection list of June 2026 named Physiotherapist. The pattern is consistent: a degree, a registration and a merit list.

Dental Hygienist

The Guntur notice required a Dental Hygienist certificate from an institute recognised by the Dental Council of India, with one vacancy at Rs 17,500 per month on outsourcing. This post is rarer than the others, and its notices tend to appear in medical-college and district hospital bundles. Search results described Ananthapuramu merit lists of February 2026 as including Dental Hygienist, but we did not open them. If your course is from an institute whose recognition is uncertain, settle that question before any notification appears.

Community Health Officer (CHO)

The Community Health Officer, also called a Mid-Level Health Provider, leads the primary-care team at a village or wellness clinic. We did not open an official Andhra Pradesh CHO notification, so this section is cautious. Search results that mentioned Andhra Pradesh described the cadre as one for B.Sc Nursing graduates who have also completed a certificate programme in community health, and as a contract cadre under the National Health Mission, and one result said CHO service would be counted as weightage in later Staff Nurse contract recruitment. We could not trace these statements to an official order, so verify each in the current notice. What we can say safely is that the CHO cadre is different from the staff nurse cadre in its work, its register and its recruiter, and that service in it may or may not count towards staff nurse weightage depending on the order in force.

How selection works: the 100-mark merit calculation

The Tirupati notification of 27 June 2026 gives the clearest published rule set, and the Guntur notification of 2021 uses the same formula. The notification states total marks of 100 with no written test, divided as follows.

Component Marks How it is counted (Tirupati 01/2026)
Aggregate in the qualifying examination 75 Marks in all years of the qualifying course or equivalent
Years since qualifying up to 10 1.0 mark per completed year after acquiring the required qualification, up to the date of notification
Earlier service on contract, outsourcing or honorarium up to 15 2.5 marks per six months in a tribal area, 2.0 in a rural area, 1.0 in an urban area; COVID-19 service has its own scale

Service of less than six months earns no weightage for non-COVID service. To claim it, the candidate must attach the contract or outsourcing service certificate issued by the competent authority, along with a copy of the appointment order. Without these papers the weightage is not given.

A worked example makes the arithmetic clear. This illustration uses a proportional reading of the 75-mark component, which is a common interpretation, and the actual conversion is set by the notice you apply under. Suppose Candidate A scored 60 per cent in the qualifying course, qualified four years before the notification, and has no earlier service. The 75-mark part becomes about 45, the waiting years add 4, and the total is about 49 out of 100. Candidate B scored 70 per cent, qualified two years before, and has twelve months in a rural area. The 75-mark part becomes 52.5, waiting years add 2, rural service adds 4 (2.0 for each six months), and the total is about 58.5. Candidate B leads even though Candidate A qualified earlier, because marks carry the heaviest weight and service adds a real push. Do this calculation for yourself as soon as a notice appears, so that you know whether your service certificate or your marks need attention.

Other rules in the same notification are useful to know.

  • Roster and local rules. Reservation follows G.O.Ms.No.77 of the General Administration Department dated 02.08.2023, together with the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment (Organization of Local Cadres and Regulation of Direct Recruitment) Order, 2025. Local and non-local treatment follows G.O.Ms.No.45 of the General Administration (SPF and MC) Department dated 20.04.2026. Our guide to local status and the reservation roster explains these terms.
  • District jurisdiction. Apply to the respective district only. Candidates apply to each post separately if they are eligible for more than one, with a separate demand draft for each.
  • Age. The Tirupati notice fixed a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 42 years, reckoned as on 01.07.2025, with five years of relaxation for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates, three years plus service for ex-servicemen, and ten years for differently abled persons, with 52 years as the overall ceiling. Compare this with the age relaxation guide.
  • Fee. Rs 500 for OC candidates and Rs 300 for SC, ST and BC candidates, paid by demand draft in favour of the District Coordinator of Hospital Services, with fee exempted for persons with disabilities.
  • Mode and place. Physical applications submitted at the District Coordinator's office with two sets of attachments, with a dated acknowledgement.
  • Schedule. The notice printed a tentative schedule: scrutiny and a provisional merit list on 16.07.2026, grievances on 17 and 18 July, the final merit and selection list on 19.07.2026, and counselling with appointment orders on 24.07.2026.
  • Tenure. The posts were outsourced, with an initial tenure of one year, extendable as the Government decides, and the District Selection Committee may end the service on one month's notice.
  • Merit list validity. The list remains valid until 30.06.2027 for arising vacancies.

The Tirupati posts were supporting cadres such as Theatre Assistant, Record Assistant, Plumber, GDA and Post Mortem Assistant, ten vacancies in all. The technical cadres we describe may be advertised in other districts under the same format, but the exact fee and age can differ, so read each notice from start to end.

Registration: the paper that decides eligibility

For technical cadres, registration can matter as much as marks. The Andhra Pradesh Para Medical Board Act, 2006 (Act 38 of 2006) received the Governor's assent on 22 September 2006, was published in the Gazette on 25 September 2006, and is deemed to have come into force on 1 August 2006. This reading is from the copy of the Act that we opened, as originally gazetted, and later amendments, if any, should be checked against the latest government publication.

Four provisions of that text are directly useful.

  • Section 21 says every registration is valid for five years and must be renewed before the end of the fifth year. If renewal is not made by the due date, the Secretary removes the name from the register, although it may be restored on payment of the renewal fee and a fine.
  • Section 30 says no one other than a registered person shall practise as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, ECG Technician, EEG Technician, EMG Technician, Radiographic Technician or any other technician the Government declares as a para medical technician. A first offence can lead to imprisonment up to six months and a fine up to Rs 1,000.
  • Section 31 says hospitals, operation theatres, nursing homes, blood banks, medical laboratories and similar institutions shall not employ anyone as a para medical technician unless registered. The fine for an institution may extend to Rs 5,000.
  • Section 2 defines the technician roles and the idea of a recognised institution and recognised qualification.

For a candidate, the lesson is practical. In the Guntur notice, registration with the Para Medical Board "valid as on the date of notification" was written into the qualification for several technical posts, and the Tirupati notice asked for a valid certificate of registration "in AP Para Medical Board, Allied Health Care sciences or any other council constituted under the relevant rules, wherever applicable". An expired registration can cost you the application. Note the renewal date today, and for any course that sits under another body, such as nursing or dental councils, keep that registration current too.

Pay: what notifications printed

Remuneration is stated per notification and per cadre, and it is a consolidated figure, not a pay scale. As on October 2026, the figures below are those printed in the notices we read and should not be used as the pay of a future notice.

Cadre Notice Mode Printed monthly remuneration
Radiographer Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing Rs 17,500
Physiotherapist Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing Rs 17,500
Dental Hygienist Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing Rs 17,500
Lady Health Visitor Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing Rs 17,500
Operation Theatre Assistant Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing Rs 14,250
Theatre Assistant Tirupati 01/2026 Outsourcing Rs 15,000
MPHA(F) Guntur 1/2021 Outsourcing To be fixed by the Government

Five years separate those two notices, and the Tirupati notice itself says remuneration is "as applicable from time to time". Do not treat any figure here as a promise.

Documents to keep ready

Because marks and registration decide the result, a prepared file is the best form of preparation.

  1. SSC memo for date of birth, and marks memos of every year of the qualifying course.
  2. Pass certificate of the qualification, and proof of appearance where needed.
  3. Registration certificates: Para Medical Board, Nursing Council, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and Health Visitors Council, or Dental Council, as applicable, with the renewal date visible.
  4. Study certificates from Class IV to Class X, or a residence certificate in the prescribed form if you studied privately.
  5. Caste certificate, EWS certificate of the valid year, SADAREM disability certificate and sports certificate if you claim them.
  6. Service certificate issued by the controlling officer, in the prescribed proforma, together with the appointment order, for contract or outsourcing weightage.
  7. A certificate of local status as per the Government Orders, if you migrated from Telangana.
  8. Demand drafts in the right name, one per post, and a photocopy set made twice, because the Tirupati notice asked for two sets.

Check that names and dates agree across every document. A mismatch between the father's name on the SSC memo and the registration certificate is the most common cause of delay.

Exam traps and common mistakes

  • Treating one notification as the rule for all districts. The Tirupati fee and age are not a promise for Chittoor.
  • Missing a physical deadline. District notices often close within eight to ten days, and the application is a physical file handed over at an office. Collect papers before the notice.
  • Letting registration lapse. Section 21 of the Para Medical Board Act removes defaulters from the register.
  • Assuming a nursing degree opens every door. The Guntur note excluded B.Sc Nursing and GNM from MPHA(F) posts.
  • Confusing "assistant" with "technician". A Theatre Assistant needed an SSC pass in the notices we read, which is not the same as a technician qualification.
  • Believing agents. The 3 August 2026 alert says no one should pay money for a government job.
  • Counting service you cannot prove. Without a service certificate in the prescribed proforma, weightage is not given.
  • Forgetting the date of qualification. The notice counts waiting years up to the notification date and expects the qualification to be held on that date.

A realistic preparation plan

Since the formula depends on marks you already have, the controllable parts are timing and paperwork. A plan for the weeks before a notice might look like this.

  • Weeks 1 and 2: build the document file above, scan every page in clear resolution and note renewal dates.
  • Week 3: check each registration, apply for a duplicate or renewal where needed, and settle name mismatches through an affidavit or correction.
  • Week 4: collect service certificates in the proforma used by the department, and ask your last employer for an appointment order copy.
  • Week 5: list the districts where you could work, bookmark their recruitment pages and note the offices where physical applications are submitted.
  • Ongoing: keep technical skills fresh. A radiographer should revise positioning, radiation protection and image quality, a physiotherapist should revise assessment and exercise prescription, and a midwifery-track candidate should revise antenatal, natal and postnatal care, immunisation schedules and the national health programmes.

If a notification announces a written test, we cannot say what it will contain, because none of the 2026 notices we read had one. In that case, use the syllabus printed in the notice, and practise general knowledge and aptitude through timed mock tests. Do not rely on a pattern quoted from another state.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a written exam for Radiographer, Physiotherapist or ANM posts? In the notices we read in full, no. Selection was by the 100-mark merit calculation. A future notice may differ, so read the one you apply under.

Is any notification open right now? As on October 2026 we could not confirm an open notification for these cadres on an official page. District notices that we read closed in June and July 2026. Check district websites and the Board's portal regularly.

Can a B.Sc Nursing graduate apply for MPHA(F)? In the Guntur 2021 notice, no. B.Sc Nursing and GNM were listed as not eligible. A newer notice may change this.

Are these posts permanent? The posts in the notices we read were on contract or outsourcing, with an initial tenure of one year in the Tirupati notice. Regular posts are filled under separate rules.

Do I need registration before I apply? For technical cadres, the notices we read asked for valid registration on the date of the notification. Renew early.

Can I apply in more than one district? Notices are district-specific, so apply to each district through its own notice, and use a separate demand draft for each post.

Who can tell me whether a notice is genuine? Only the issuing office. The Health Department's alert says to trust the official Board website and not to pay anyone.
