09 | Andhra State and linguistic-state chronology

The demand for a Telugu-speaking state had a long history involving many leaders, organisations and public debates. Potti Sriramulu's final fast became a decisive political catalyst for the 1953 Andhra State. The later 1956 Andhra Pradesh formation joined a different administrative configuration. In 2014, Andhra Pradesh was again reorganised, producing the successor AP and Telangana. These steps are not one event and cannot be assigned to one person as a sole achievement.

A reliable exam timeline draws three separate boxes: 1953, 1956 and 2014. Tanguturi Prakasam belongs with the first government of Andhra State. The modern AP Reorganisation Act is a much later legal subject. Many biographical pages use “Andhra Pradesh” retrospectively when describing a person from an earlier Madras Presidency district; that is a geographic convenience, not the contemporary constitutional name. This chapter prepares candidates to read dates and nouns exactly.

Worked example: Create four chronology cards: independence in 1947, Andhra State in 1953, Andhra Pradesh in 1956, and bifurcation in 2014. Place Potti Sriramulu's sacrifice before the 1953 formation and Prakasam's chief-minister role in the new Andhra State. A map from 2014 cannot describe the 1953 administrative boundary without adjustment. Answer chronology before memorising officeholders.

Active recall: Explain 1953, 1956 and 2014 in one sentence each. Which is directly linked with Sriramulu's final fast?
