08 | Potti Sriramulu: freedom and social work

Potti Sriramulu took part in the freedom struggle and worked for social causes before his final fast for a separate Andhra State. The Ministry of Culture's district account records Salt Satyagraha participation, imprisonment and efforts concerning Dalit entry rights at temples in Nellore. His life should not be compressed into one death-related sentence. For AP Police preparation, the three strands are anti-colonial activity, anti-discrimination work and the linguistic-state demand.

The present Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district bears his name. That commemorative label helps place a regional association but does not prove that every action occurred inside today's district polygon. The 1953 Andhra State emerged after his death; Prakasam then became its first CM. A question may ask who fasted, who governed and which state was formed. Keep those verbs separate. Do not claim that his fast created the 1956 Andhra Pradesh directly without the intervening 1953 state.

Worked example: Potti Sriramulu's fast is central to the Andhra State story, but his life also included nationalist and social work. A question asking for the consequence of his death points to the linguistic-state sequence; a question asking for one of his earlier activities needs a separate source. Do not compress an entire biography into a single fast-related label.

Active recall: Name Sriramulu's three strands of public work. Which state came first after his final fast?
