NEW DELHI, August 6 — Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologized to the Government of India after an official video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was mistakenly blocked by the platform's automated content moderation systems.

The incident occurred early on Wednesday when an official broadcast video was flagged and temporarily restricted, sparking questions about content policy and algorithmic bias. Meta officials clarified that the block was due to a technical glitch in their automated moderation systems and was resolved immediately.

Government sources stated that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has asked the platform to provide a detailed report on its automated flagging systems to prevent similar incidents.

General studies exams often test topics related to digital governance and social media regulations in India. Candidates should note that social media intermediaries are regulated under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
