NEW DELHI, August 6 — The Union Health Ministry deployed a National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) to Gujarat and Rajasthan on Thursday to assist local health administrations in controlling the Chandipura Virus disease (CHPV) outbreak.
The joint team, comprising epidemiologists, entomologists, and public health experts from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the National Institute of Virology (NIV), will monitor vector control operations, collect entomological samples, and standardise clinical treatment guidelines for affected children in rural areas.
Local authorities have intensified insecticide dusting and malathion spraying operations to eliminate sandfly vectors in vulnerable residential zones.
