GANDHINAGAR, August 4 — The Gujarat health department has intensified vector control measures across rural districts following the confirmation of 35 Chandipura virus (CHPV) cases.
Local health workers are conducting dusting operations with malathion powder and insecticide spraying to eliminate sandfly breeding sites. The department has also set up isolation wards at regional hospitals and organized local awareness drives to educate communities on early symptoms of the infection.
Medical experts stated that Sandflies, which primarily breed in mud walls and dark corners of houses, are the primary carrier of the virus.
