GUNTUR, October 5 — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan jointly performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 3 lakh rural dwelling units under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G 2.0) at Burripalem in Guntur district.
The initiative initiates the state's strategic roadmap to achieve universal housing saturation by 2029, guaranteeing that every eligible rural family currently residing in non-permanent kutcha structures secures a pucca home equipped with basic amenities. In response to state representations, the Union Ministry has agreed to progressively expand Andhra Pradesh's cumulative rural allocation up to 9 lakh units. Each dwelling benefits from operational convergence delivering piped drinking water under Jal Jeevan Mission, individualized household latrines under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, and LED power connections under Saubhagya.
Chief Minister Naidu affirmed that an end-to-end digital logistics gateway will supply sand, cement, and pre-cast components directly to beneficiaries at subsidized institutional tariffs, removing contractor intermediaries and preserving construction quality.
Centrally Sponsored rural development schemes, beneficiary identification under SECC, and federal financial sharing arrangements are recurrent topics in APPSC Group 1/2 and UPSC GS Paper II (Welfare Schemes). Aspirants should note that under PMAY-G, the funding ratio is shared 60:40 between the Centre and States (90:10 in Himalayan and North-Eastern States), with unit subsidies pegged at ₹1.20 lakh in plain terrains and ₹1.30 lakh in difficult geographies.
