NEW DELHI, October 6 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Tuesday released the tentative answer keys along with individual candidate response sheets for the Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGL 2026) Tier-I on its centralized digital recruitment portal `ssc.gov.in`.
The large-scale screening assessment was administered in September across nationwide centres to shortlist eligible candidates for 17,727 non-gazetted Group 'B' and Group 'C' vacancies spanning central ministries, attached departments, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India. Candidates can inspect their marked responses against official answer keys by logging in with their designated roll number and password.
The Commission has operationalized a grievance challenge window from October 6 until 6:00 PM on October 10, 2026. Aspirants contesting any question formulation or provisional answer designation may submit challenges online accompanied by documentary evidentiary proof and a statutory non-refundable fee of ₹100 per challenged question. An expert academic panel will review all representations prior to freezing the final evaluation key and compiling normalized Tier-I percentile merit bands for Tier-II shortlisting.
Administrative recruitment structures under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the mandate of the Staff Selection Commission, and central secretariat governance are frequent focus areas in SSC General Awareness and UPSC administrative studies. Candidates should know that the Commission was established in November 1975 pursuant to the recommendations of the Estimates Committee of Parliament (47th Report), initially known as the Subordinate Services Commission before its rechristening as SSC in 1977.
