NEW DELHI, October 6 — The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) concluded the online application registration window on Tuesday evening for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE 2027), closing recruitment for 480 premier Group 'A' and 'B' engineering officer billets across central government ministries and executing agencies.
Commission officials confirmed that the centralised application portal `upsconline.nic.in` registered over two hundred thousand submissions from degree-holding engineers spanning Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering disciplines. Beginning October 7 through October 13, 2026, the Commission will operationalize a one-week application correction facility, permitting validated candidates to modify minor biographical and examination centre preferences without altering primary reservation credentials.
According to the official examination calendar, the ESE 2027 Preliminary Stage-I objective examination will take place on February 21, 2027, comprising Paper-I (General Studies and Engineering Aptitude) and Paper-II (Discipline-specific Engineering). Candidates who secure qualifying benchmark scores will advance to the Stage-II conventional descriptive examination in June 2027, followed by the apex Stage-III Personality Test in New Delhi.
The constitutional safeguards governing the Union Public Service Commission under Articles 315 to 323 of the Constitution of India, centralized recruitment protocols, and the statutory structure of technical cadres form core subjects in UPSC Indian Polity modules. Candidates should note that the Federal Public Service Commission was initially constituted in 1926 pursuant to recommendations of the Royal Commission on Superior Civil Services (Lee Commission), later re-established under Article 315 as the premier central recruiting watchdog.
