JODHPUR (RAJASTHAN), October 14 — The Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on Wednesday commenced the 14th edition of the bilateral armored and mechanized warfare exercise 'Bold Kurukshetra 2026' at Jodhpur Military Station in Rajasthan.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the exercise deploys contingents from mechanized infantry battalions, armored regiments, and artillery brigades of both nations. The Indian contingent is led by personnel from the 43rd Armoured Regiment of the Southern Command. The bilateral training curriculum focuses on tactical maneuver execution across desert terrain, coordinated live-fire tank assaults, drone-integrated reconnaissance, and joint battalion-level planning under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter.
Field commanders noted that the joint maneuvers integrate modern computer-simulated wargaming environments, evaluating operational tempo and command-and-control interoperability between composite armored elements and mechanized task forces.
Bilateral defense architecture between India and Singapore (encompassing Exercise Bold Kurukshetra for armies, SIMBEX for navies, and the Joint Military Training agreement for air forces at Kalaikunda), India's foundational 'Act East' foreign policy doctrine, the doctrinal employment of Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs), and desert warfare tactics are essential topics across UPSC Civil Services (GS-II: Bilateral Relations & GS-III: Defence) and CDS recruitment examinations.
