NEW DELHI, September 28 — A 60-member joint contingent of the Indian Armed Forces departed on Monday to participate in the 8th edition of the annual bilateral military exercise "KAZIND-2026" in Kazakhstan.
The multi-day exercise emphasizes tactical joint operations in sub-conventional warfare scenarios under a United Nations mandate, focusing on counter-terrorism drills in semi-urban and mountainous terrain, counter-unmanned aerial vehicle (C-UAV) tactics, and casualty evacuation protocols. The Indian Army contingent comprises personnel primarily drawn from the Ladakh Scouts regiment alongside specialists from the Indian Air Force.
Ministry of Defence officials highlighted that Exercise KAZIND deepens defence cooperation, fosters mutual understanding of combat doctrines, and bolsters strategic ties with Central Asian partner nations.
