SSC does not publish a cut-off in advance. It publishes cut-offs when results are declared. This page reproduces the official figures from the last completed cycle (CGLE 2025) and the tentative 2026 vacancies, then explains how to use them. Every number below is from an SSC notice linked in the sources. Nothing is estimated.

Tier-I cut-off, CGLE 2025 (shortlisting for Tier-II)

Tier-I of CGLE 2025 was held from 12 to 26 September 2025, with a re-examination on 14 October 2025. The result was declared on 18 December 2025. Marks were normalised because the exam ran in several shifts. Out of 200 marks.

For all posts other than JSO and Statistical Investigator Gr-II (List-3):

Category Cut-off marks Candidates available
UR 136.83159 20,035
OBC 130.36617 43,260
EWS 127.41630 20,268
SC 114.97063 25,338
ST 106.36936 11,729
ESM 92.80460 3,511
PwD: OH 100.87394 1,667
PwD: HH 68.79973 1,550
PwD: VH 72.00006 1,615
PwD: Others 41.70541 1,445
Total shortlisted 130,418

The write-up says that, in addition to the UR number shown, further candidates from reserved categories who qualified at UR standard (both cut-off marks and age limit) are counted under their own categories.

For the statistics posts (separate lists, because they sit Paper-II): Junior Statistical Officer: UR 153.46108, OBC 153.46108, EWS 151.58638, SC 137.29518, ST 136.40211; 6,196 candidates shortlisted. Statistical Investigator Gr-II: UR 152.47231, OBC 150.51402, EWS 152.14666, SC 137.16184, ST 130.16987; 2,781 candidates shortlisted.

Minimum qualifying marks (a floor under the cut-off, per the notice): UR 30%, OBC and EWS 25%, all other categories 20%. On a 200-mark paper that is 60, 50 and 40 marks. The actual cut-offs were more than twice these floors.

Final selection, CGLE 2025 (after Tier-II)

SSC's final result of 14 May 2026 provisionally recommended 15,118 candidates against 15,118 vacancies: 6,458 UR, 2,221 SC, 1,132 ST, 3,832 OBC and 1,475 EWS (the horizontal categories, ESM and PwD, are counted inside these). Allocation followed merit and each candidate's post preference.

The write-up lists the marks of the last selected candidate for each post and category. These are Tier-II Paper-I marks (Sections I and II together are out of 390 under the current scheme; Section-I alone is out of 180). A selection of UR figures for popular posts:

Post Vacancies (UR) Last selected: Paper-I total Section-I marks
Inspector of Income Tax (B15) 188 342.00 165.00
Assistant Section Officer, CSS (B16) 398 331.00 164.00
Inspector (Preventive Officer), CBIC (B02) 138 320.00 171.00
Inspector (Examiner), CBIC (B01) 68 325.00 147.00
Inspector (Central Excise), CBIC (B04) 611 319.00 162.00
Assistant Enforcement Officer, ED (B05) 1 362.00 180.00
Office Superintendent (B33) 2,709 317.00 145.00

Two things to read from this table. First, the last-selected totals for different posts sit in a narrow band (317 to 342 for six of these seven UR rows), but they depend on how many vacancies a post has and how many high scorers ranked it first. Second, Section-I marks are the first tie-break for most posts, which is why the write-up reports them next to the total. The full post-wise, category-wise table is in the official write-up.

Vacancies, CGLE 2026 (tentative)

SSC's notice of 24 September 2026 lists 10,731 tentative vacancies: UR 4,412, SC 1,715, ST 804, OBC 2,772, EWS 1,028 (ESM 373, OH 122, HH 138, VH 99, PwD-others 105 are counted within these). The largest single lines include Inspector (Central Excise) with 2,366, Inspector of Income Tax with 595, and the three Assistant Audit Officer / Assistant Accounts Officer cadres with 504, 504 and 513.

This is lower than the 15,118 vacancies filled in the 2025 cycle. A smaller vacancy count can push cut-offs up, other things equal. Treat that as a reasoning aid, not a forecast: SSC's vacancy list is tentative, and the paper's difficulty and the number of candidates matter as well.

How to use these numbers

  1. Convert the cut-off to a mock target. The 2025 UR shortlisting cut-off was 136.83 out of 200, about 68%. Aim for a buffer above that in your mocks, not at it. Your own mock marks vary from paper to paper.
  2. Do not read Tier-I as the goal. It only decides who reaches Tier-II. Most of your selection is decided by Tier-II Paper-I, so start Tier-II subjects (including statistics and probability) before Tier-I results.
  3. Work out your category's number, not the UR number. The table above shows the spread. A UR candidate and an SC candidate are shortlisted on very different marks.
  4. Check your percentile, not just your score. Raw marks hide the paper's difficulty. On Pareeksha everyone in a cohort sits the same fixed paper, so your percentile is a like-for-like comparison. See how fixed-paper percentile works.
  5. Pick posts by marks and vacancies together. The post table shows that posts with few vacancies and high demand close at higher marks. See the post preference guide for how to order choices.

What this page does not have

  • Earlier years (2024 and before) are not included yet. We only publish figures we have read from an SSC notice.
  • Tier-II shortlisting cut-offs for CGLE 2026 will be added after SSC declares them. As of 7 October 2026, Tier-I is still in progress (30 September to 30 October 2026).
  • Category-wise last-selected marks for every post are in the official write-up; we have shown a selection.

Frequently asked questions

What was the SSC CGL 2025 Tier-I cut-off for the General category?

For posts other than JSO and Statistical Investigator Gr-II, SSC's write-up of 18 December 2025 gives 136.83159 out of 200 (normalised) for UR, 130.36617 for OBC, 127.41630 for EWS, 114.97063 for SC and 106.36936 for ST. 130,418 candidates were shortlisted for Tier-II on these cut-offs.

Is the Tier-I cut-off the final cut-off?

No. Tier-I cut-offs only decide who sits Tier-II. The final selection is based on Tier-II, and the last-selected marks differ for each post and category.

Will the 2026 cut-off be the same as 2025?

No one can say. Cut-offs depend on paper difficulty, normalisation, the number of candidates and the vacancies, which SSC reports separately. The 2025 figures are a reference point, not a forecast.

How many vacancies are there in SSC CGL 2026?

SSC's tentative vacancy notice of 24 September 2026 lists 10,731 vacancies: 4,412 UR, 1,715 SC, 804 ST, 2,772 OBC and 1,028 EWS. This is tentative and can change.
