NEW DELHI, October 15 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Thursday evening promulgated the official examination dates, operational guidelines, and shift timetables for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2026 Tier-2 on its web portal ssc.gov.in.
According to the Commission's notification, the multi-tier computer-based test will take place across designated test centers nationwide during the second week of December 2026. The examination is structured into Paper-I (mandatory across all posts, assessing Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, English Comprehension, General Awareness, and a Computer Knowledge Module alongside an integrated Data Entry Speed Test - DEST) and Paper-II for candidates shortlisted for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) cadres.
The Commission reiterated that qualifying the Computer Knowledge Module and DEST is mandatory for consideration across all Group 'B' and Group 'C' vacancies, while the composite merit list for 17,727 vacancies will be derived exclusively from candidate scores in Section-I and Section-II of Paper-I.
The institutional mandate of the Staff Selection Commission under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the administrative tiering of Union civil posts (Group A, B, and C cadres governed under CCS Rules), and the operational mechanics of normalized competitive objective testing form core general awareness topics for central government aspirants.
