NEW DELHI, October 15 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Wednesday published the scrutinized results and category-specific qualifying cut-off marks for the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical) Examination 2026 Tier-1 on its web portal ssc.gov.in.
As per the Commission's evaluation bulletin, a total of 16,845 candidates in the Civil Engineering stream and 6,210 candidates in the Electrical/Mechanical Engineering stream secured qualification thresholds to appear for the Stage-2 Computer-Based Descriptive test. The normalized unreserved qualifying cutoff settled at 122.50 marks for Civil and 131.75 marks for Electrical/Mechanical.
The multi-stage recruitment drive aims to fill 1,765 vacancies for Group 'B' non-gazetted technical personnel across critical national organizations including the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Central Water Commission (CWC), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and the Farakka Barrage Project.
The institutional framework of the Staff Selection Commission, the administrative jurisdiction of the Border Roads Organisation (raised in 1960 under the Ministry of Defence for strategic border infrastructure), and the mandate of the Central Water Commission (established in 1945) represent fundamental general awareness topics for engineering competitive examinations.
