NEW DELHI, October 6 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Tuesday notified the official schedule for Paper-II of the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical) Examination 2026, scheduling the secondary computer-based stage for November 6, 2026, across designated national test hubs.
The assessment facilitates recruitment to Group 'B' non-gazetted technical billets across premier central executing entities, including the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Central Water Commission (CWC), and the Military Engineer Services (MES). Approximately 16,500 candidates who cleared discipline-specific benchmark cut-offs in Paper-I have been declared eligible to appear for the subsequent technical assessment.
Under the revised examination pattern, Paper-II comprises 100 domain-specific multiple-choice questions carrying an aggregate of 300 marks to be completed in a two-hour testing window, with a negative marking deduction of one mark (one-third) for each erroneous response. Commission authorities announced that examination city intimation slips and downloadable e-admit cards will be released on regional portal servers seven days prior to the test date.
The statutory administrative structure of central executing agencies, technical civil cadres under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Ministry of Defence, and negative marking psychometrics form core awareness areas for engineering aspirants appearing for SSC JE and state engineering exams. Candidates should note that the Border Roads Organisation, while staffed by civilian and military engineers, functions directly under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence to develop border infrastructure across Northern and North-Eastern frontiers.
