NEW DELHI, October 7 — The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) operating under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in coordination with the National Medical Commission (NMC), on Wednesday notified the definitive counseling schedule for Round-1 admissions under NEET-PG 2026 across Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS), and PG Diploma medical seats on `mcc.nic.in`.
According to the official counseling blueprint, candidate registration, fee remittance, and specialty choice-filling for 50 percent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, Deemed Universities, Central Universities, and Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) institutions will run from October 14 through October 21, 2026. Automated seat allotment processing will conclude on October 23, with provisional allocation results slated for formal publication on October 24, followed by mandatory institutional reporting.
The counseling framework encompasses four standardized electronic rounds—Round 1, Round 2, Round 3 (erstwhile Mop-Up), and the final Online Stray Vacancy Round. The MCC clarified that candidates securing admissions under Round 2 who fail to tender resignation within the notified exit window will be statutorily debarred from participating in downstream state quota rounds, preventing seat blocking and optimizing institutional roster utilization.
The regulatory architecture of the National Medical Commission under the NMC Act of 2019, tertiary healthcare infrastructure distribution, and post-graduate medical education governance constitute prominent study themes in UPSC Civil Services (GS-II: Social Justice & Health Administration). Candidates should note that the NMC replaced the Medical Council of India (MCI) on September 25, 2020, establishing autonomous boards to oversee undergraduate and postgraduate medical curricula, ethics, and institutional accreditations nationwide.
