NEW DELHI, October 7 — The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) on Wednesday notified the confirmed examination timeline for the First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1) facilitating the induction of 18,799 Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP under CEN 01/2024) on its centralized web portal `rrbapply.gov.in`.

According to the official circular issued by the Railway Board, the nationwide CBT-1 screening assessment will be administered across designated testing shifts between November 25 and November 29, 2026. Simultaneously, the recruitment authority operationalized a ten-day application correction window active from October 8 to October 17, 2026, permitting candidates to rectify biometric photo-signature uploads and modify zonal railway preferences upon payment of nominal processing fees.

The CBT-1 screening test comprises 75 objective questions distributed across Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, and Current Affairs, to be solved within a 60-minute duration under a one-third (0.33) negative marking penalty. Scores accrued in CBT-1 serve exclusively for shortlisting candidates at a ratio of 15 times the notified vacancies for the decisive CBT-2 technical assessment and subsequent Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).

Railway administrative structures, the technical cadre hierarchy of Indian Railways, the operational mandates of the 17 Railway Zones, and standardized psychometric testing standards represent essential knowledge across RRB ALP, Technician, and Junior Engineer assessments. Aspirants should note that the final merit list for ALP selection is derived by synthesizing 70 percent weightage from CBT-2 Part 'A' marks with 30 percent weightage from the CBAT psychometric evaluation.
