NEW DELHI, October 7 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on Wednesday released the official examination city intimation slips and downloadable e-admit cards for the Computer-Based Examination (CBE) of the Stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' Examination 2026 on its centralized recruitment portal `ssc.gov.in`.
According to the official scheduling notice published by the Commission, the nationwide computer-based assessment is slated to run across designated shifts on October 28 and 29, 2026. Registered applicants can verify their assigned examination venue locations, shift timings, and reporting hours by logging into their candidate profiles utilizing their One-Time Registration (OTR) credentials.
The preliminary computer-based assessment evaluates candidates across a 200-mark objective structure encompassing General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), and English Language & Comprehension (100 marks) administered over a 120-minute testing window, with negative marking set at 0.25 marks per incorrect entry. Candidates securing qualifying percentiles will subsequently advance to mandatory transcription evaluations (Shorthand Skill Test) executed on regional computer terminals.
Recruitment protocols under the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), negative evaluation standards in central computer-based tests, and stenographic transcription metrics represent key practical knowledge for aspirants targeting central government clerical and executive cadres. Candidates should note that the Shorthand Skill Test mandates dictation speeds of 100 words per minute (wpm) for Grade 'C' posts and 80 wpm for Grade 'D' appointments, transcribed under standardized time allowances in English or Hindi.
