NEW DELHI, October 8 — The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) on Thursday published an official corrigendum to Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 02/2026 on the unified application portal (rrbapply.gov.in), announcing an upward revision of total sanctioned vacancies for Technician Grade-I Signal and Technician Grade-III across all 21 zonal recruitment divisions to 14,298 posts.
The upward recalibration from the initially announced 9,144 vacancies addresses expanding operational staffing requirements driven by the rapid nationwide rollout of the indigenous Automatic Train Protection system 'Kavach' and increased maintenance schedules for Vande Bharat trainsets. Under the revised notification, Technician Grade-I Signal (Pay Level 5, ₹29,200 initial basic pay) accounts for 1,420 positions, requiring degree or diploma engineering qualifications in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
Technician Grade-III vacancies across designated engineering trades—including Electrical, Mechanical, Fitter, Diesel Mechanics, Welder, and Telecommunications (Pay Level 2, ₹19,900 initial basic pay)—have been scaled to 12,878 posts for Matriculation pass-outs possessing National Trade Certificates (NTC) or National Apprenticeship Certificates (NAC) from NCVT/SCVT institutions. Multi-shift Computer-Based Tests (CBT) are scheduled to commence in December 2026.
Railway technical human-resource recruitment, indigenization of railway safety systems (Kavach collision avoidance systems), and central public sector hiring procedures represent vital focus domains for government technical job aspirants (RRB Technician, RRB ALP, RRB JE, State Metro recruitments). Candidates must master the distinct syllabus weightages: Grade-I prioritizes Basic Science & Engineering (35 marks) and Computer Fundamentals (20 marks), while Grade-III centers on workshop calculation and trade practicals under a single-tier 100-mark format with 1/3rd negative marking.
