NEW DELHI, October 16 — The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on Friday published the national performance milestone for the PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, confirming that cumulative collateral-free working capital loan disbursements have crossed ₹12,150 crore to more than 6.5 million urban street vendors nationwide.
According to the official dashboard, the multi-tiered credit framework has successfully facilitated graduated second-tranche borrowings of ₹20,000 and third-tranche loans up to ₹50,000 for verified borrowers demonstrating timely repayments. Repayments qualify for a 7 percent annual interest subvention alongside direct cashback rewards up to ₹1,200 annually for digital UPI transactions.
Urban governance officials highlighted that under the socioeconomic profiling drive 'SVANidhi se Samriddhi', participating vendor families are saturated across eight premier welfare safety nets—including PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and the PM Matru Vandana Yojana—integrating the informal sector into formal social security.
The statutory framework of the Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2014, the operational partnership between MoHUA and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) as implementation agency, and financial inclusion benchmarks represent staple topics in UPSC Civil Services (GS-II: Welfare Schemes & Governance, GS-III: Informal Economy).
