GUNTUR, October 4 — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for a pioneering rural housing pilot project in the Tenali constituency of Guntur district, incorporating automated 3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) technology to erect 177 disaster-resilient dwelling units.
Executed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) framework, the robotic construction method compresses building timelines from months to merely 5 to 7 days per housing superstructure. Bi-directional robotic extruder gantry systems deposit high-performance mortar layer-by-layer, cutting structural costs by 25–30%, curtailing construction waste by nearly 80%, and providing superior seismic and thermal resilience compared to conventional brick masonry.
Chief Minister Naidu affirmed that following third-party structural validation, 3D additive construction will be deployed at scale across planned satellite residential clusters in Amaravati and coastal rehabilitation belts. Union Minister Chouhan commended the state's technology adoption, confirming central capital subsidies and technical handholding through the Building Materials and Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC).
Affordable housing missions, innovative construction materials, and central-state collaborative schemes constitute essential subjects in civil services socio-economic development papers. Candidates should remember that PMAY-Gramin was launched in November 2016 (restructuring the erstwhile Indira Awaas Yojana) under the Ministry of Rural Development to achieve "Housing for All" with piped drinking water, electricity, and sanitation convergence.
