AP Reorganisation Act 2014 — Explained · Chapter 27
26 | Other water arrangements: Tungabhadra Board

Section 91 addresses continuation of arrangements on the Tungabhadra Board. The two successor governments replace the old AP government in the relevant representation, while the Board continues monitoring release to specified canals and the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme. This is not the same institution as the new Godavari and Krishna River Management Boards under Section 85. The Tungabhadra is a Krishna tributary with its own long-standing inter-state governance context.

The Act's water chapter therefore has more than one organisational device: Apex Council, new boards, tribunal reference, Polavaram and an existing board arrangement. A candidate who memorises only “two river boards” can miss a question on Section 91. Learn each by its task rather than treating every board as interchangeable. A project-specific release dispute should be routed to the body with the relevant notified jurisdiction and award. The present district map is not a water-allocation schedule.

Worked example: A Tungabhadra canal question can be mistaken for a Krishna River Management Board question because both involve interstate water. The Act also addresses the Tungabhadra Board separately. Identify the named river system and institution before choosing an answer. Then check whether the question asks allocation, project operation or a particular canal's location; these lead to different evidence.

Active recall: Which section mentions the Tungabhadra Board? How does it differ from the two boards under Section 85?
