43 | MCQ error patterns and district-date traps

The most common errors are type swaps and status inflation. Belum is called a rock-cut monument, Undavalli a natural cave, Lepakshi an inscribed UNESCO property or Kondapalli toys an ASI monument. Correct each by asking what physical or legal object is named. The next error is a nearby-site swap: Srikurmam and Arasavalli are both in Srikakulam but have Kurma and Surya associations; Simhachalam and Thotlakonda are near Visakhapatnam but are a shrine and Buddhist site. Place and category must be recalled together.

Another error is moving an old district label into a current question. UNESCO's Lepakshi submission uses Anantapuramu, while present district tourism uses Sri Sathya Sai. Older Draksharamam pages use East Godavari, while Konaseema's present site lists the temple. An error can also come from an official source typo; the Kadapa Gandikota page's traveller year is visibly inconsistent with the historical period, so do not memorise it. A good answer records source, publication date and the precise claim supported.

Worked example: Review wrong answers by error type: place swap, physical-type confusion, legal-status confusion or stale date. 'Lepakshi is inscribed' is a status error; 'Belum is rock-cut' is a formation error; 'Amaravati stupa is the capital building' is a name collision. Correct the evidence behind each mistake, rather than memorising the option letter.

Active recall: Correct one example of a type swap, a status inflation and an old-district error.
