GUWAHATI, August 3 — The Assam state government released ₹160 crore in interim financial assistance on Monday, transferring funds directly into the bank accounts of over 75,000 families affected by recent monsoon floods.

Using Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), the government sent ₹21,300 to each affected family to help cover crop damages, house reconstruction, and immediate livelihood needs. Officials stated that local administrative circles verified the bank accounts to ensure transparency and prevent duplicate claims.

Emergency relief materials, including food grains, medicines, and cattle fodder, continue to be distributed across flooded districts. The state government announced that further rehabilitation packages will be released after a final crop damage assessment is completed.

Aspirants preparing for state and central government exams should note the use of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) systems in disaster management and the ministries involved in organizing national disaster relief funds.
