NEW DELHI, August 5 — An Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi landed safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Wednesday after experiencing severe mid-air turbulence that caused a sudden drop in altitude.
The aircraft experienced a sudden 300-foot drop while flying over the Bay of Bengal, injuring several passengers and crew members who were not wearing seatbelts. Airport medical teams provided immediate assistance to the injured passengers upon landing.
Aviation authorities announced a safety review of the incident to evaluate weather monitoring protocols.
