NEW DELHI, September 17 — The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) reported that central government ministries and departments generated over ₹5,100 crore in revenue through office scrap disposal and weeded out millions of obsolete physical files over the past five years.
Conducted under the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters and Swachhata, the drive freed up over 400 lakh square feet of office space across central ministries, public sector undertakings, and regional field offices. Freed office space has been converted into digital record rooms, employee wellness centers, and public facilitation counters.
DARPG officials stated that the campaign promotes paperless e-office governance, reduces administrative pendency, and enhances workplace efficiency.
