PM Modi inaugurates Semicon India 2026 conference in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, September 17 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the flagship "Semicon India 2026" international conference and exhibition at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on Thursday.

Organised under the theme 'Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem', the three-day event brings together over 500 global semiconductor executives, chip designers, equipment manufacturers, and scientific researchers. In his keynote address, PM Modi highlighted India's rapid progress under the ₹76,000 crore Semiconductor Mission, noting that multiple commercial semiconductor fabrication units and test facilities are currently under construction across Gujarat, Assam, and Maharashtra.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) officials affirmed that India is establishing itself as a global hub for semiconductor design, talent development, and chip manufacturing.

Semiconductor policy and national technology missions are core science and technology topics in competitive exams. Candidates should know that the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) operates under MeitY to drive domestic chip ecosystem development.
