NEW DELHI, October 5 — Following India's historic 85-medal campaign at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports alongside several State Governments have unveiled comprehensive monetary incentive packages celebrating the podium finishers and their coaching contingents.
Under the Central Government's Scheme of Special Awards to Medal Winners in International Sports Events, individual gold medallists will receive ₹30 lakh, silver medallists ₹20 lakh, and bronze medallists ₹10 lakh directly transferred via DBT. Concurrently, the Government of Odisha announced ₹11 lakh each for members of the gold-medal-winning national hockey squads, while Mizoram declared ₹25 lakh for state-domiciled players Lalremsiami and Lalthantluangi. The Indian Golf Union (IGU) separately announced awards of ₹10 lakh for individual champion Pranavi Urs and ₹3 lakh each for team silver medallists.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya affirmed that continuous financial and infrastructural handholding under Khelo India and TOPS guarantees that athletic progression seamlessly transitions towards podium targets at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
National sports governance frameworks, athlete incentive structures, and the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) are frequent themes in civil services and defense recruitment examinations. केंद्रीय खेल मंत्रालय की संशोधित विशेष नकद पुरस्कार योजना (Special Cash Award Scheme) के तहत व्यक्तिगत स्वर्ण पदक विजेताओं को ₹30 लाख, रजत पदक विजेताओं को ₹20 लाख और कांस्य पदक विजेताओं को ₹10 लाख की प्रत्यक्ष वित्तीय राशि प्रदान की जाएगी। इसके अतिरिक्त, ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री ने एशियाई खेल में स्वर्ण पदक जीतने वाली पुरुष व महिला हॉकी टीमों के प्रत्येक खिलाड़ी के लिए ₹11 लाख और सहयोगी स्टाफ के लिए ₹5.5 लाख के विशेष नकद पुरस्कार की घोषणा की है। मिजोरम सरकार ने स्वर्ण पदक विजेता हॉकी खिलाड़ियों को ₹25-25 लाख और भारतीय गोल्फ संघ (IGU) ने महिला गोल्फ टीम के सदस्यों के लिए विशेष प्रोत्साहन की घोषणा की है।
केंद्रीय खेल मंत्री ने कहा कि यह वित्तीय प्रोत्साहन न केवल एथलीटों के अथक परिश्रम को मान्यता देता है, बल्कि 2028 लॉस एंजिल्स ओलंपिक की तैयारियों के लिए उच्च स्तरीय उपकरण और विश्वस्तरीय प्रशिक्षण हासिल करने में भी सहायक होगा। सभी पदक विजेताओं के लिए नई दिल्ली में एक भव्य राष्ट्रीय नागरिक अभिनंदन समारोह आयोजित किया जाएगा।
