NEW DELHI, October 18 — The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare achieved a milestone in public healthcare infrastructure digitization on Sunday, completing 100% GIS geo-tagging and digital electronic health record linkage across all 1,73,000+ operational Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs (AAMs) nationwide.
Integrated within the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) geospatial health stack, the real-time repository maps primary health sub-centres and urban clinics down to precise coordinates, indexing live pharmacy stock inventories, diagnostic screening availability, and staffed Community Health Officers (CHOs). Citizens can access this digital directory via the ABHA and Aarogya Setu interfaces to locate nearest healthcare access points.
Health ministry data confirmed that the upgraded AAM network has facilitated over 230 million tele-consultations via the eSanjeevani platform, significantly de-congesting secondary and tertiary district hospitals while delivering early screening for non-communicable diseases (hypertension, diabetes, and oral cancers) in rural habitations.
The institutional architecture of Ayushman Bharat (launched September 2018 comprising PM-JAY and Health & Wellness Centres rebranded as Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs), the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA 14-digit identifier), the National Health Policy 2017, and SDG-3 targets (Universal Health Coverage) are critical for UPSC GS-II and public policy exams.
