NEW DELHI, October 13 — The Union Ministry of Ayush alongside the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Tuesday launched the upgraded national telemedicine portal 'e-AyushSanjeevani', seamlessly integrating traditional clinical consultation workflows with the digital backbone of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
According to the joint health directive, the citizen-centric digital platform delivers doctor-to-patient and doctor-to-doctor tele-consultations across Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy. Through ABDM interoperability protocols, every digital consultation note and electronic prescription is securely mapped to the patient's unique 14-digit Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID, ensuring instant consent-governed portability across the national digital health ecosystem.
Health authorities confirmed that over 12,500 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres (AHWCs)—operationalized as part of the broader Ayushman Arogya Mandir network—have been onboarded as spoke nodes linked to tertiary Ayush teaching institutes serving as specialized tele-mentoring hubs. The digital rollout specifically targets chronic lifestyle disorders, geriatric rehabilitation, and non-communicable disease prevention in tier-3 towns and tribal belts.
The foundational design of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM launched in 2021 by the National Health Authority), ABHA electronic health records (EHR) privacy frameworks, the National Ayush Mission (NAM centrally sponsored scheme), constitutional obligations under Article 47 (public health duties), and digital public infrastructure in healthcare are vital topics across UPSC Civil Services (GS-II: Public Health & Governance) and State Health Service exams.
