Everything on this page comes from the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB), Andhra Pradesh notification Rc.No.91/SLPRB/Rect.2/2026, dated 16-09-2026, and the press note of the same date. Where the notification is silent, we say so. Check slprb.ap.gov.in for corrigenda before you rely on any figure.
Posts covered by Rc.91 and the 2026 vacancies
One notification covers five post codes. All of them sit the same preliminary and final written tests; they differ in physical events, age limit and how the final merit is counted.

Dates
Not yet announced as on 2026-10-08. The notification says the exact dates for submitting the online application and for the preliminary written test "will be notified separately through a Press Release". Nothing newer than 17-09-2026 was on the SLPRB site when this page was checked. The process is: Stage-I online application, then the prelims, then a Stage-II upload only for those who qualify the prelims.

| Time | 3 hours |

| Standard | Intermediate |
| Qualifying marks | 40% OC (incl. EWS), 35% BC, 30% SC/ST |
- Negative marking: none stated. The notification's "awarding of marks" rule gives full marks when only the correct bubble is darkened and zero when no bubble is darkened. There is no penalty clause.
- Special categories (ex-servicemen, Home Guards, MSP, CPP, CDI, NCC, CJP) qualify at the percentage of their own community.
- Prelims marks have no relevance to final selection. The prelims only decide who goes on to the physical tests.
- The notification does not fix how many questions come from each subject. It lists seven subject heads (see the syllabus) without a number against each. Any split you see elsewhere is not from this notification.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
| Candidate | Height | Chest / weight |
|---|---|---|
| Men (Codes 21, 22, 42, 53) | at least 167.6 cm | chest at least 86.3 cm with at least 5 cm expansion |

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
For PC (Civil), Firemen and Jail Warders the PET is qualifying only. You must pass the 1,600 m run and one of the 100 m run or the long jump.
| Event | General | Ex-servicemen | Women |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,600 m run | 8 min 00 s | 9 min 30 s | 10 min 30 s |

- Timing is electronic. Spikes are not allowed. The notification says there is no re-test.
- For PC (AR), Code 22 only, all three events are compulsory and carry 100 marks (40 for the 1,600 m, 30 and 30 for the other two), marked on the gradation tables in Annexure I(A) and I(B).
Final Written Examination
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Questions | 200 objective questions |
| Time | 3 hours |
| Mode | OMR |
| Language | English, Telugu or Urdu, as chosen in the application |
| Marks | Graded to 200 for Codes 21, 42, 53, 54; graded to 100 for Code 22 (AR) |
| Qualifying | 40% OC, 35% BC, 30% SC/ST |
| Negative marking | No clause in the notification |
The syllabus is the same as for the prelims (Annexure II).
How the final merit is built
- PC (Civil), Code 21: merit on the Final Written Examination, out of 200 marks, only.
- PC (AR), Code 22: Final Written Examination (100) plus PET (100) = 200.
- Firemen and Jail Warders: the written test is graded to 200, as for Civil.
Local cadre rule. Posts are filled under the Andhra Pradesh Presidential Order 2025 (G.O.Ms.No.103 GA (SPF&MC), 15-07-2026 for Civil; G.O.105 for AR; G.O.107 for Firemen). Under G.O.Ms.No.172 GA (Ser.D), 02-09-2026, the first 5% of posts are open to locals and non-locals, and the remaining 95% are for locals only. Your local status therefore matters as much as your marks.
Eligibility summary
| Item | Civil and AR (Codes 21, 22) | Firemen and Warders (42, 53, 54) |
|---|---|---|
| Age on 01-07-2026 | 18 to 24 (born 02-07-2002 to 01-07-2008) | 18 to 32 |
| Qualification | Intermediate or equivalent; SC/ST: SSC pass, and must have studied Intermediate and appeared for both first- and second-year exams | Firemen: as for Civil. Warders: Intermediate pass |
| Fee | Rs.300 for OC (incl. EWS) and BC locals; Rs.150 for SC/ST locals; non-locals pay Rs.300 | same |
Age relaxation (as listed in the notification): 5 years for EWS, and for BC (non-creamy layer), SC and ST; length of regular service up to 5 years for AP State Government employees; service plus 3 years for ex-servicemen and whole-time NCC cadet instructors; up to 3 years for retrenched 1991 Census temporary staff. Widows and divorced or judicially separated women who have not remarried: 18 to 42 (SC/ST) or 18 to 37 (others). Home Guards with at least 360 days of service in the preceding two years: 18 to 32.
A note on G.O.188. The state's G.O.Ms.No.188 of 14-09-2026 adds two years to the upper age for uniformed posts, but the SLPRB notification still prints 18 to 24 and says age limits will not be relaxed except as specifically provided. We have not seen a corrigendum. Treat 24 as the limit until SLPRB says otherwise.
What the pattern means for your attempt
- 200 questions in 180 minutes is 54 seconds a question. That is arithmetic from the scheme, not SLPRB advice.
- With no penalty clause, an unanswered bubble scores the same as a wrong one, so leaving questions blank gains nothing. Check the OMR instructions on exam day.
- The prelims are only a gate, but the qualifying percentage still has to be met. The real competition is the final written test (see cut-offs).
- Start running early. The 1,600 m run is compulsory and there is no re-test. See the preparation plan.
