GLASGOW, August 1 — India's contingent at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow achieved historic milestones on Saturday, led by weightlifting star Mirabai Chanu securing her third consecutive CWG gold medal and judokas Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh clinching India's first-ever judo golds in Commonwealth Games history.

Mirabai Chanu dominated the women's 48kg weightlifting event with a total lift of 197 kg, solidifying her status as one of India's premier international lifters. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Asmita Dey (women's 48kg) and Harsh Singh (men's 60kg) produced landmark victories in judo, marking India's maiden gold medals in the sport at the Commonwealth level.

In boxing, Preeti Pawar (54kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) stormed to gold medals in their respective weight categories, while para-athletes Sharmila Dhankar and Soman Rana secured gold in shot put F57 events. Boxer Lovlina Borgohain had served as the baton-bearer during the opening ceremony.

Commonwealth Games medal winners, host cities, flag-bearers and historic firsts form a vital component of General Awareness sections in upcoming SSC CGL, RRB NTPC, Banking and State PSC examinations.
