NAGOYA, October 4 — Indian grappler Nitesh Siwach secured a hard-fought silver medal in the men's 74kg freestyle wrestling event at the 20th Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, going down 3–5 against Iran's two-time world championship medallist in a tactical final bout.
The 22-year-old wrestling prodigy showcased exceptional counter-offensive agility and defensive resilience throughout the tournament bracket. Earlier in the morning sessions, Siwach dispatched Uzbekistan's continental champion 8–2 in the quarterfinals before outclassing Kazakhstan's seeded opponent 10–0 by technical superiority in the semifinals.
Wrestling coaches and Indian Olympic contingent officials hailed Siwach's medal as a testament to the depth of emerging mat talent nurtured through national coaching camps and modern sports physiotherapy support. India's wrestling contingent has now amassed seven medals—including two golds and three silvers—at the 2026 Nagoya games.
International sporting tournaments, Olympic disciplines, and Indian medal tallies are consistently tested in SSC CGL, RRB NTPC, State PSCs, and defence recruitment exams. Candidates should remember that the 74kg freestyle division is a marquee Olympic category, in which Indian wrestling has historically maintained strong global competitiveness.
