NEW DELHI, August 7 — The Lok Sabha passed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Amendment Bill on Friday, introducing new guidelines to improve ease of doing business and support credit access for small businesses.
The bill proposes updates to the classification criteria for MSMEs, aligning investment and turnover limits with current inflation trends. It also seeks to simplify registration procedures, establish digital platforms for trade receivables, and enforce stricter rules for timely payments to MSMEs by large corporations.
Opposition members continued to protest in the house regarding separate administrative issues during the brief discussion and passage of the bill.
