THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, August 7 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert warning for seven districts in Kerala on Friday following continuous heavy monsoon rains that caused flooding in low-lying areas.
The red warning covers central and northern districts, including Wayanad, Kozhikode, and Kannur. Local district administrations have ordered the closure of schools and educational institutions as a safety measure. Emergency response teams have been deployed to coordinate evacuations from landslide-prone hilly sectors.
The state government has set up control rooms and urged residents in waterlogged regions to move to designated relief camps.
