BENGALURU, October 4 — The Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), an autonomous premier society under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Power, has published a recruitment notification inviting online applications for Engineering Officer Grade 1, Scientific Assistant, and Technician vacancies across its testing installations in Bengaluru, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Kolkata.
The recruitment covers engineering disciplines including Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineering for degree holders, as well as designated technical trades for diploma and ITI certificate holders. Selection for Engineering Officer posts utilizes qualifying GATE scores or an institute-administered Computer Based Test followed by trade tests. The online submission portal remains accessible until October 12, 2026.
Engineering Officers will be placed in Pay Matrix Level 7 (initial basic pay of ₹44,900 plus Central Government allowances), while Technicians will join at Level 2. The appointees will undertake certification testing of ultra-high voltage power apparatus, smart grid switchgear, and energy-efficiency compliance validation.
Power sector research institutions, autonomous national societies, and national testing infrastructure form recurrent themes in engineering services, PSU, and general competitive examinations. Candidates should remember that CPRI was founded in 1960 by the Government of India and functions as an internationally accredited independent power equipment testing and certification authority.
