NEW DELHI, October 6 — The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday evening declared the written examination results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS II 2026) on its official portal `upsc.gov.in`, qualifying over 8,500 candidates for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews.
The qualified candidates have secured admission eligibility across premier armed forces officer training institutions commencing training in 2027: the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala, Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, and the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai for both Men and Women SSC courses. The Commission directed qualified aspirants to register without delay on the Army Recruiting website `joinindianarmy.nic.in` to receive call-up letters for the 5-day psychometric and intelligence assessment rounds.
The written screening examined candidates across three comprehensive modules: English Language, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics (the latter excluded for OTA aspirants). Final appointment recommendations will synthesize aggregate written test scores with marks obtained across the five-day SSB testing protocol and subsequent apex military medical boards.
The organizational framework of officer training academies, constitutional parameters of the Union Public Service Commission under Article 320, and tri-services command structure are core concepts in CDS, NDA, AFCAT, and CAPF recruitment awareness. Candidates should note that the CDS examination is administered bi-annually by UPSC, and successful candidates entering the permanent commission cadres receive pre-commission military training subsidized entirely by the Ministry of Defence.
