NEW DELHI, October 9 — The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday published the written examination results for the Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS II 2026) on its official portal (upsc.gov.in), declaring 8,924 candidates qualified to appear for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews.

The qualified candidates will contest for commissioned officer training vacancies across the Indian Military Academy (IMA, Dehradun), Indian Naval Academy (INA, Ezhimala), Air Force Academy (AFA, Hyderabad), and Officers Training Academy (OTA, Chennai). Candidates must complete mandatory registration on the Indian Army recruitment portal (joinindianarmy.nic.in) within two weeks to confirm call-up dates for the rigorous five-day SSB testing protocol.

UPSC clarified that final merit allocation will be determined through cumulative aggregation of the written examination (300 marks for IMA/INA/AFA, 200 marks for OTA) and SSB interview scores, subject to thorough defense medical board clearances. Courses for the inducted cadets will commence in July 2027 across the respective military academies.

Defense officer recruitment frameworks, the structure of the Services Selection Board (SSB stage-I screening, psychological batteries, and GTO ground assessments), Permanent Commission versus Short Service Commission mandates (including judicial verdicts extending permanent commission to women officers), and armed forces command jurisdictions are central to CDS, NDA, AFCAT, and CAPF aspirants.
