AMARAVATI, October 9 — The Andhra Pradesh State Cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister on Thursday approved a comprehensive infrastructure funding package to accelerate civil works for the Amaravati capital city development and the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project.
Under the approved roadmaps, Polavaram Phase-1 works will target completion up to the 41.15-metre contour level within the 2026-27 fiscal window to enable partial reservoir storage before the monsoon season. The Cabinet sanctioned renewed tender packages for arterial ring roads, government housing complexes, and high-court administrative blocks in Amaravati backed by World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) co-financing.
Furthermore, the state executive reviewed progress under flagship welfare initiatives, directing district collectors to complete digital land record verification across all districts to streamline direct benefit transfers (DBT).
Water governance under Polavaram National Project status (Section 90 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014), Godavari river disputes, Amaravati capital land pooling framework, and AP budget allocations are central topics across APPSC Group-I, Group-II, and national competitive exams. Candidates should note that Polavaram's total design capacity at 45.72 metres stands at 194.6 TMC.
