MUMBAI, October 11 — The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Sunday published a comprehensive recruitment notification on its official career portal (licindia.in) to fill 8,500 sanctioned vacancies—comprising 1,500 Class-I Assistant Administrative Officers (AAO Generalist, IT, Chartered Accountant, and Actuarial cadres) and 7,000 Class-III Divisional Assistants—across its eight zonal jurisdictions nationwide.
According to the notified eligibility criteria, candidates holding a recognized Bachelor's degree in any discipline within the 21 to 30 years age bracket (with statutory relaxations for reserved categories) can submit online applications between October 20 and November 15, 2026. Phase-I Preliminary Computer-Based Examinations are slated for December 2026.
The three-tier selection framework encompasses a qualifying Preliminary Examination (Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language), a merit-determining Main Examination (incorporating a high-weightage specialized paper on Insurance and Financial Market Awareness alongside a descriptive English test for AAO), and a final Personality Interview for officers or Regional Language Test for clerical assistants.
Statutory foundations of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (established on September 1, 1956, under the LIC Act 1956 by nationalizing 245 insurers), regulatory oversight by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI constituted in 1999 following R.N. Malhotra Committee recommendations, headquartered in Hyderabad), concepts of Insurance Penetration (ratio of premium to GDP) versus Insurance Density (per capita premium), and the 'Bima Trinity' (Bima Sugam, Bima Vistaar, and Bima Vahak) are essential domains for LIC AAO, NIACL, and banking aspirants.
