NEW DELHI, October 11 — The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, on Sunday published a comprehensive direct recruitment drive (Notification 2026-27) on its official portal (navodaya.gov.in) to fill 4,800 sanctioned teaching and non-teaching positions across more than 660 residential Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) nationwide.
The notified vacancy roster comprises 1,240 Post Graduate Teachers (PGT, Pay Level 8), 2,160 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT and Regional Language Instructors, Pay Level 7), alongside 1,400 non-teaching cadres including Female Staff Nurse, Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Lab Attendant, and Mess Helper. Online registration opens on October 18 and concludes on November 14, 2026.
Selection for teaching cadres integrates a nationwide Computer-Based Test (CBT)—evaluating General Awareness, Reasoning, ICT Knowledge, Teaching Aptitude, NEP 2020 pedagogy, and domain subject mastery—followed by a personal interview. TGT applicants must hold a valid CTET Paper-II certificate alongside a B.Ed. qualification.
The institutional origin of the Navodaya Vidyalaya System (conceived under the National Policy on Education 1986 to nurture talented rural youth regardless of socio-economic status across all states except Tamil Nadu), implementation of the Three-Language Formula via inter-regional Class IX migration between Hindi and non-Hindi belts, and PM SHRI School modernization standards are core topics across NVS, KVS, EMRS, CTET, and UPSC (GS-II: Education) examinations.
