NEW DELHI, October 11 — The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, on Sunday issued the official recruitment notification for the EMRS Staff Selection Exam Phase-II (ESSE 2026) on its portal (emrs.tribal.gov.in), announcing 6,300 sanctioned teaching and non-teaching vacancies across 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools nationwide.
The notified post matrix comprises 240 Principals (Pay Level 12), 1,860 Post Graduate Teachers (PGT, Pay Level 8), 2,600 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT, Pay Level 7), 800 Hostel Wardens (Male and Female, Pay Level 5), and 800 Junior Secretariat Assistants and Lab Attendants. The centralized online application window opens on October 22 and closes on November 18, 2026.
Under the revamped EMRS mandate, every tribal block housing more than 50 percent Scheduled Tribe (ST) population and at least 20,000 tribal persons is being equipped with a state-of-the-art CBSE-affiliated residential school on par with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Selection for TGT and Hostel Warden cadres will be determined strictly through a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT), while PGT and Principal candidates will additionally undergo personality interviews.
Constitutional grants under the first proviso to Article 275(1) of the Constitution of India (financing tribal welfare administration), the institutional role of NESTS (established in 2019), PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups) educational inclusion under PM-JANMAN, and Fifth and Sixth Schedule governance are foundational syllabus topics across EMRS, KVS, NVS, and UPSC Civil Services (GS-II: Vulnerable Sections).
